I chose to be the Outlining facilitator in this collaborative writing task. Based on the duty i assigned to, i did a revision on structuring my friends' writing so it would be a perfectly coherent composition. I also gave some of alternative websites so they could browse the arguments towards the passage that we read. Not to mention, i corrected some grammatical errors that my friends did on the writings and i hope that would help them to be more careful in using different tenses in different context.
I can say that this collaborative writing is pretty successful because my groupmates did their job very well. They read the passage, we had a discussion even though we had a difficulty on the internet connection, but in the end we could finally finished this assignment punctually. One thing that would give us some problems is that we had to finish this as soon as we could because one of the groupmates, Theresia, must go to Mentawai for KKN program. Her time here was limitted so she had to do it earlier than we did, that left the 3 of us. Maria, Grace and i only had a few days to discuss the material with Tere before she left for mentai. Yes we meet every day at campus, but there was one day that they were willing to stay over my place to have a discuss about a lot of things but this one was the most crucial one. We did not finish the writing that night due to too many group assignments that we needed to get over with. Gratefully, just before Tere flied to Mentawai, she had finished doing her part so we could just continue and finish our part aswell.
This collaborative writing is one of many ways to teach students practically since they can do the writing anywhere, whenever they are able to. As what i have been taught about this collaborative learning, i would ask my future students to do the same. But i'd rather ask them to write about someone's biography. This someone could be anyone prominent at their time or any famous artist that my students admire and get inspired by the most. I know that different person would have different role model in their lives but that's what groupmates and discussion are for, to have one purpose and one heart in doing so.
