BLENDED LEARNING

Blended learning is a term increasingly used to describe the way e-learning is being combined with traditional classroom methods and independent study to create a new, hybrid teaching methodology. It represents a much greater change in basic technique than simply adding computers to classrooms; it represents, in many cases, a fundamental change in the way teachers and students approach the learning experience. It has already produced an offshoot - the Flipped Classroom - that has quickly become a distinct of its own.

The term "hybrid course" (a term we used interchangeably with the term "blended learning") names a model of course design that combines traditional, face-to-face class time with out-of-class course work. Especially for UW Bothell, they define hybrid courses as those where 15% to 50% of the traditional face-to-face class time is replaced with online or out-of-class work.

This method is specified for those who are in senior high level of education and college year. Around the age of 15 to early 20. In the type of study method, they need to operate the computer more advance and more often since it needs a lot of practice of writing, reading and listening. This course is rather important because they need to be prepared to face the real world, especially when students' dreams are to be good qualified teachers, they need to have a good competition with the technology so that they will not get left behind.

There are 10 drivers of Blended Learning :
1. Improve ability to personalize learning
2. Potential for individual progress
3. Improve student engagement and motivation
4. Shift to online state tests starting in 2015
5. Need to extend time and stretch resources
6. Potential to extend the reach of effective teachers
7. Ability to improve working conditions
8. Decrease device course
9. Student and parent adoption of learning apps
10. Interest in narrowing the digital device

These drivers need not always done in the classroom. Every student can simply sit wherever they feel comfortable in and do the assignments as they drink coffee or chat with their peers  This Blendspace is very helpful for teachers, in cases that they can not be physically in class due to many reasons. Teachers just need to upload the material and or give some quizes to the students and monitor them, not always at the same time but make sure that they do the tasks well and punctually.. Parents' attention is needed here so that every student do not ditch the task over going out with friends but rather having them at home and discuss the project all together. Spend at max 30 minutes in one week to do the task and they will have a good relaxation after. How much of the face-to-face instruction must be replaced by online course? This question will vary greatly by class, discipline, and learning objective. The Online Learning Consortium (formerly, the Sloan Consortium, a professional organization dedicated to postsecondary online learning) defines blended learning as a course where 30 % - 70% of the instruction is delivered online. While this a useful guideline, it may not be sufficient to cover every blended learning configuration.
How would i, as a teacher, apply the principles of Blended Learning in my activity is first i am going to start the lesson by playing quiz then get to the material and explain it as the students ask question then i will end with a homework or group assignment. And the difficulties i face when doing so is that not every students are going to be excited with the material i teach, however as a student, i also faced those time, i will encourage them again and again, i should probably play a video so they are triggered to be more enthusiastic.
What i like about BlendSpace is that there are really a lot of teaching optional which teachers can choose on how they are going to explain certain material, such as Class Jukebox, image bank, TED playlist, The power of video, Smorgasbord, Competition Time, Museum curator, and Knowledge Hunt which i actually used. I do hope that my students will  react very enthusiastically. This application is both useful and helpful for teachers nowadays, they should really learn how to use it and give it a try in the classroom, it just needs a fast internet connection and you won't have any problems.

British Council Mobile App - NEARPOD

School learning nowadays has become very boring, no lies, bear with every student in all level of studying. However, there are many differences in studying in university and school. Students are expected to be more responsible in university rather than in school. Moreover, after we have already graduated from college. Workplace needs employers who work hard and have big responsibility for their job. Not only students do have to work hard but also an employee. Either students or college students must realize that hard work is all that needed in every aspect of life. Even when we are not in school or campus anymore, even when we are on holidays or leisure times. Hard work is not a manner, it is supposed to be a habit, a lifestyle. How we face people, respond to their interaction should be appropriately respectful, and that is what we learn in both high school and college life.

As i decided to learn in English Department of Widya Mandala University, like it or not, i am taught every day how to be a good qualified teacher. As what i did on freshman year, i taught some elementary students after college and i thought that i would probably want to teach elementary til junior high only because that's the year where i can not only teach them academically but also spiritually and mentally as a godly children of Christ. That is what my former teachers taught me when i was at that age. Academic can't be prioritized if our relationship with God is not healthy. Therefore, a personal intimate relationship with our Creator must be continuous for we all know that wisdom comes when we fear God the most.

First of all, i would teach them what Nearpod is, what are the functions, and how to use it. Nearpod is an interactive presentation and assessment tool that can be used to amazing effect in the classroom. The application's concept is simple. A teacher can create presentations that can contain Quiz's, Polls, Videos, Images, Drawing-Boards, Web Content and so on. The children can access a teacher's presentation through a code. It is up to then move the class through the presentation and let them interact with the media as they go. Below are just 10 ways of utilizing this multifaceted tool.

1. Simple Presentation Delivery
2. Personalized Provision
3. Distributing Resources
4.Live and Formative Assessment
5. Ongoing Assessment
6. Self Assessment
7. Modelling
8. Open Ended Taks
9. Setting Homework
10. Sharing and pre-made Resources

Nearpod enables instructors to limit distraction and multitasking during a lesson by broadcasting content and interactive learning activities/exercises to student devices in real-time.
